PRINTABLE FLYER to post & share: November Tips to Raise Awareness (PDF Flyer)
Each November, New Beginnings joins National Runaway Safeline, National Network for Youth, and hundreds of other organizations across the county in raising awareness about the issues faced by runaway and homeless youth (RHY) during National Runaway Prevention Month. You can, too!
5 EASY things YOU can do to raise awareness this November:
2. Wear Green!
Wear green on Wednesday, November 8th (or any day this month!) and post a photo of yourself on social media with a message about why your support RHY and ending youth homelessness. Don’t forget to use the hashtags #NRPM2017 and #endyouthhomelessness
Invite New Beginnings to speak about youth homelessness at your community group, church, or school. Post the above flyer in your community! Tell parents and teens you know about New Beginnings’ services – you never know who might need help! More statistics about runaway and homeless youth are online at 1800runaway.org. Come to the Outreach Drop-In Center Open House on November 30, 2017 from 11 am to 1 pm at 134 College Street in Lewiston.
Talk to your friends, colleagues, and local politicians! Make a visual display or use social media to spread the word. Post a special profile photo on November 1st and a photo with this “You Are Not Alone” SELFIE SIGN on November 22nd (details at www.1800runaway.org). Put a green light bulb in your porch light, or green holiday lights in your home or business window to show your support for runaway and homeless youth! Downloadable RHY Prevention Month Toolkit here!
Contribute new winter coats, waterproof gloves, holiday foods, and gifts from New Beginnings’ wish list during November and all year ’round.
