The biggest staff news of Spring 2020 were the retirements of our TLP Director Mike Mooney and our Shelter Director Marian Carney. Mike and Marian each worked for our agency for decades (a combined 53 years of service!) and made a huge positive impact on the agency and youth we serve.
Because we can’t gather in person to celebrate and say good-bye, we would like to invite anyone who knew them during their time at New Beginnings to share a memory or message of thanks at these links:
Even before COVID-19 hit, 2020 was poised to be a year of significant change for New Beginnings. With the Directors of our longest running programs retiring, the opportunity arose to restructure the agency organizational chart to better allow for future growth. The Shelter and Transitional Living Program Director positions are being re-configured into a new Residential Services Director position (supervising both the transitional living and shelter program operations) and Director of Programs position (supervising the Residential Services Director, Outreach Services Director, and Mental Health Services Directors, and responsible for agency-wide program planning, evaluation, growth, and working with collaborative partners).
In addition to the major retirements above, we’ve had many transitions in our staff since the Autumn (November 2019) Newsletter! We’ve said good-bye to some other dedicated employees – such as long time TLP Case manager Victor LeClerc, Shelter Program Coordinator Rosie Moreau (who transitioned from her full-time role to work for us part-time), and Outreach Program Coordinator Lacey Donle – and have welcomed many new faces in each of our programs:
Administration: In March we were thrilled to welcome Tara Kosma to our team as Director of Programs. Please note that any correspondence that would previously have been directed to Marian Carney or Mike Mooney should now be directed to Tara at: tara@newbeginmaine.org
Shelter: The Shelter Promoted Alyssa Morin to Shelter Coordinator in January and then to Residential Director, and Nichole Clark to Shelter Coordinator this spring. We also welcomed Deborah Brauer as a Youth Worker.
TLP: The TLP welcomed three new Youth Workers, Andrea Harmon, Corrine Rabon, and Ginifer Giddinge. Also joining TLP Awake Nights were Jason Van Buren and Esther Morse.
