Full Time – Exempt Position $54,000 – $56,000 per year
Job Summary:
Oversees, monitors, supervises, and participates in the day‑to‑day activities of the Augusta Area Street Outreach Program for youth who are experiencing, or are at risk of experiencing, runaway, houselessness, exploitation, or trafficking. Provides crisis intervention, case management, information and referral, advocacy, and support services for adolescents who are homeless or at high risk of becoming homeless. Performs street outreach services to locate youth who are disconnected from traditional services. Ensures staffing of a Drop-In Space for street youth and designs and conducts activities in the center in conjunction with youth. Maintains an atmosphere of trust, respect, and equality with youth in all service provision.
Essential Job Functions:
- Program Coordination
- Oversees daily operations and staffing of the Augusta Area Street Outreach Program activities.
- Oversees intakes, eligibility, and recordkeeping for youth in rural service areas.
- Liaises with Residential Services to coordinate service provision within rural Transitional Living units.
- Provides consultation and assistance in crisis interventions.
- Assists in collecting and analyzing relevant data for purposes of monitoring the program’s quality and effectiveness. Collects and compiles reports as needed for grantors and for internal review.
- Develops a good working knowledge of the adolescent service system, public assistance programs, and health/mental health services in the community.
- In conjunction with the Community Services Director, establishes and maintains formal working relationships with other agencies and the public. Conducts program presentations and promotes the agency when necessary.
- Assists in monitoring and revising program procedures and is responsible for implementation of program procedures.
- Personnel Management
- Assists the Community Services Director in the recruitment, training, supervision and performance evaluation of Augusta Area Outreach staff.
- Coordinates program and staff scheduling.
- Assists the Community Services Director with the development of ongoing training; assists with facilitating team meetings.
- Youth Work
- Participates in staffing the program as necessary, including covering absences and vacancies; ensures that services utilize Youth Development principles and are responsive to youth needs, including issues related to trauma.
- Assists with educational, prevention-related life skills, and other youth development activities.
- Oversees the provision of survival assistance such as food and supplies.
- In consultation with the Community Services Director, advocates for client access to appropriate and necessary services.
- Carries a case load based on community needs and bills as appropriate through Targeted Case Management (TCM)
- Encourages youth participation in program planning and implementation.

- Represents New Beginnings’ Outreach Program at community events.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Community Services Director.
Specifications and Qualifications:
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in a human-services related field, to qualify under Section 13 TCM.
Job Related Experience:
Two years’ experience working with youth; one year of supervisory experience is required.
Specialized Skills:
Valid driver’s license and driving record, which meets insurance requirements. Basic counseling skills. Knowledge of human service system. Background in mental health, substance abuse or sexual abuse fields. Basic conflict resolution skills and case management skills. Strong computer literacy. Ability to work independently.
Cognitive Requirements:
Good verbal and written skills; literacy and general knowledge on at least a college graduate level. Good organizational and coordination skills and an attention to detail. Ability to process and analyze information quickly, think critically and problem solve.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb stairs. Ability to perform essential job functions. Ability to participate in street outreach activities (walking several miles at a time).
Work Environment:
Time spent in community and office environments.
